County Boards and Organizations

Dakota Central Social Service Board: The Dakota Central Social Service Governing Board consists of ten members.  They include McLean County Commissioner Steve Lee, Mercer County Commissioner Wayne Entze, Oliver County Commissioner Kent Albers and Sheridan County Commissioners Eldon Ehrman and Howard Erdmann.  The Dakota Central Social Service governing board also consists of at large members Agnes Jennings and Karen Jorgenson from McLean County, Robert Albers and Darlene Bauman from Mercer County and Betty Price from Oliver County.  The board supervises and directs all Social Service programs and activities of the district within guidelines established by the state and federal government.  The members are appointed by the county commissioners of their resident county and are appointed for three year terms.

Park Board: The Park Board consists of five members. They are County Commissioners Steve Lee, Ronald Krebsbach and Julie Hudson-Schenfisch. At-large members are Rick Hultberg of Garrison and Perry Smith of Wilton. The at-large members are appointed on an annual basis. The Park Board is in charge of county park and recreational areas, with full power to manage such areas and activities. Currently the Board oversees Sportsmen's Centennial Park and seven recreational sites within the county.

Weed Control Board: The Weed Control Board consists of five members, appointed to four year terms by the Board of Commissioners. Current members are: Mike Thyberg and Larry Schulz, Washburn; Paul Jacobson, Max; Herb Schafer, Roseglen and  David Bergquist, Turtle Lake. Vance Tomlinson, Max, serves as Weed Control Officer for McLean County. Duties of the board include management of the expenditure of funds to control noxious weeds and enforcement of state regulations.

Zoning and Planning Commission: The Planning and Zoning Commission was established by the Board of Commissioners to implement enforcement of the county zoning ordinance. Members include County Commissioner Julie Hudson-Schenfisch; Chairperson Robert Rasmusson, Underwood; and members Rick Hultberg, Garrison; Elmer Miller, Washburn; Neil Heringer, Wilton; Marlys Perkins, Ruso and Vernon Ostby, Garrison.

Water Resource Board: The Water Resource Board is made up of Charlotte Anderson, Coleharbor; Lynn Oberg, Washburn and Almit Breuer, Garrison. The board is responsible for dealing with all water issues in the county such as drainage and irrigation permits.

County Fair Board: The County Fair Board is made up of President Diane Schell, Underwood; Vice-President Vernon Edinger, Turtle Lake; Secretary Wanda Giedd, Washburn; Treasurer Edwin Schmidt, Max;  and members Kyle Giffey, Garrison; Ted Hochsprung, Ruso; Butch Bauman, Underwood; Angie Misek, Mercer; Aaron Anderson, Turtle Lake; Daryl Lies, Douglas; Kathy Neumiller, Washburn; and Dennis and Karla Erickson, Ruso. The board is responsible for the planning and administration of the annual county fair. Members are appointed for three year terms.

E-911 Advisory Committee: The Advisory Committee is made up of Bruce Schreiner, Garrison; Bill Iglehart, Garrison; Sheriff Don Charging, Washburn; Dennis Hammling, Washburn; Julie Hudson-Schenfisch, Washburn; Oliver Repnow, Underwood; Randy Swanson, Max; Dave Presser, Mercer; and Don Zimmerman, Garrison.

McLean County Interagency Members: The following organizations participate in the McLean County Interagency group (please click on the organization's name to obtain additional information about the organization's purpose): ADAPT, Inc, Benedictine Living Center, Early Explorers Head Start, Experience Works, First District Health Unit, Garrison Memorial Hospital and Family Clinic, Job Service ND-Beulah, McLean Family Resource Center, NDSU Extension Service, NDSU FNP Program, Northland Community Health Center, Rehabilitation Consulting Services, Self-Reliance Program, and Teen Court. Monthly meetings for 2006 are scheduled for:  January 17, 2006 at Wilton – Fire Hall, February 21, 2006 at Max - City Hall, March 21, 2006 at Washburn - City Hall, April 18, 2006 at Garrison - Ottertail Power, May 16, 2006 at Underwood – Senior Citizens, June 20, 2006 at Turtle Lake – Hospital, July 18, 2006 at Wilton – Fire Hall,  August 15, 2006 at Max - City Hall, September 19, 2006 at Washburn - City Hall, October 17, 2006 at Garrison – Ottertail Power, November 21, 2006 at Underwood – Senior Citizens , and December 19, 2006 at Turtle Lake – Hospital.  Meetings are scheduled to start at 1:30 P.M  unless otherwise announced. All meetings are regularly scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month.
